A peripheral vane pump, also known as a regenerative turbine pump, operates with a peripheral impeller that rotates in a broadly concentric casing channel with an inlet and outlet opening. Energy is added to the liquid as it travels from the center of the impeller to the edge. In a regenerative turbine, the pump liquid recirculates between the impeller vanes. The pump input power of peripheral pumps decreases with increasing flow rate.
